The circus has always been a source of inspiration for fashion, and that’s no surprise for the two worlds have so much in common… a sense of anticipation and wonder, fun, glitz and glamour, entertainment and excitement. With its kaleidoscope of colour and bold style, fashion fans of the circus are brave and daring, stylishly pushing the boundaries without ever looking like a clown.
The fashion world is embracing the circus in a big way this year. Think Moulin Rouge meets Vogue, Cirque du Soleil meets Chanel, Karl Lagerfeld as the ringmaster and gorgeous models in stylish outfits as the supporting acts… And as usual, Sandton City has its finger on the pulse. Sandton City, in partnership with Audi, is bringing fashionistas a magical, entertaining and thrilling celebration of style.
From 7 Sep. tomorrow morning Sandton City will come alive with spectacular spring/summer fashion shows, every hour on the hour from 10am to 5pm; right through til sunday. Top international brands like Mango, Guess, Steve Madden, Pringle, Country Road, Trenery and Diesel, among others, will blend seamlessly with some of South Africa’s best-known labels like Nicci Boutique, Marion and Lindie, Edgars, Stuttafords and Woolworths, showcasing the best Sandton City has to offer. And I’m sure once you see something you like you can go to the store to get it!
Sandton City has teamed up with The Princess Project – an initiative started by former Miss South Africa Jo-Ann Strauss, to collect eveningwear to donate to underprivileged girls so they don’t have to miss the matric farewell. They are asking for help making young girls’ dreams come true, by encouraging all to donate evening dresses, bridesmaids’ dresses and even wedding dresses, as well as evening shoes and sandals, handbags and accessories – all in pristine condition, of course – so a matriculant can have a night to remember.
Dresses and accessories can be dropped at the Sandton City management offices in the banking mall or at the information kiosk in Sandton City’s Fountain Court, by no later than 28 September, 2012.
See you all there 😉
