Cotton On’s 100th store!

So Cotton On has opened its 100th store at the V&A Waterfront and in all that excitement, they decided to run a competition, which I entered and won. Entering was as easy as tweeting a selfie taken in front of the store and boy oh boy was I excited when I won the R1500 shopping voucher! Things started with the A Fashion Friend style team dressing us (the 3 finalists) up in some trendy outfits, to give the shopers/audience a peek at the hot stuff to have this winter available at Cotton On. The fun part was presenting the outfit we each styled up ourselves to the crowd, who then had to choose their favourite look by cheering the loudest, though I must admit, my stage-fright got the better of me and I didnt come off my bubbly self on the mic #sigh Favourite part of my day has to be meeting the A Fashion Friend team… having been on their site a couple years back modelling for a friend, for a post about knee-high boots (check that out HERE), I have since then, kept up with and …

Delightful Doodles

Its interesting the things you learn and discover online, the talent you can discover through social networks and now and then, the people you meet and get to interact with. Illustrations by Nikita de Silva Recently, I came across the work/illustrations of graphic designer Nikita da Silva, through instagram… as I was trolling the feeds of other creatives, I came across some of her illustrations and absolutely loved them… Illustration of ME! by Nikita de Silva When she tweeted me the artwork (above) I felt like a kid on christmas morning, it looked like meee and what I love most about it is its a cheerful me, so everytime I look at it, it makes me feel happy! #HappyMonday

It takes a village…

We, as people, in general cannot survive on our own, we need the knowledge and guidance of others to progress in life, because I feel in reality, one can’t learn it all from a book. Books cannot teach you about dealing with a bully, working with peers or colleagues, dealing with people/situations with more tact, etc. How-to books and instruction manuals won’t show you quick ‘n easy shortcuts when using systems to get the job done quicker or how to give that vending machine a little nudge so to not lose your last five rand lol… only another person can share that with you, from their experiences or from what they learnt from someone else. For the most part, it is widely said that women can never rule the world, as we cannot seem to work together, and I strongly believe, that can only be changed by us (women). I, for one, know I wouldn’t be where I am today if it were not for some amazing women that added to my growth and knowledge, no matter …

SA’S FIRST FASHION FILM FESTIVAL

The Mercedes-Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival is South Africa’s first-ever Fashion Film Festival taking place in Cape Town over a three, style-infused days. Fashion capitals all over the world have been holding such stylish events, and now is the time for own to shine, giving the fashion conscious insight into some of the world’s top designers’ creative processes. The festival, created and produced by Adrian Lazarus will provide the opportunity for up-and-comers across the local and international fashion industry to showcase their films on the same stage as top international brands, such as Chanel, Prada, Christian Dior, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy – all of whom have experienced remarkable success with their films going viral on the Internet. Fashion films are a new way for designers and fashion labels to showcase their designs and ethos in a 2-3 minute film. Longer than the normal 30sec advert, the fashion film allows designers to not only show their collection, but also allows viewers to connect with the brand on an emotional/personal level. The festival, to be held on 6-7 June, at the stylish …
