The Mercedes-Benz Bokeh Fashion Film Festival is South Africa’s first-ever Fashion Film Festival taking place in Cape Town over a three, style-infused days. Fashion capitals all over the world have been holding such stylish events, and now is the time for own to shine, giving the fashion conscious insight into some of the world’s top designers’ creative processes.
The festival, created and produced by Adrian Lazarus will provide the opportunity for up-and-comers across the local and international fashion industry to showcase their films on the same stage as top international brands, such as Chanel, Prada, Christian Dior, Gucci, Yves Saint Laurent and Givenchy – all of whom have experienced remarkable success with their films going viral on the Internet.
Fashion films are a new way for designers and fashion labels to showcase their designs and ethos in a 2-3 minute film. Longer than the normal 30sec advert, the fashion film allows designers to not only show their collection, but also allows viewers to connect with the brand on an emotional/personal level.
The festival, to be held on 6-7 June, at the stylish Crossley & Webb automotive showroom in the Wembley Square precinct, will not only entrench a strong sense of fashion and film culture, it also seeks to begin positioning Cape Town as a Fashion Film capital alongside stylish cities like Berlin, Miami, New York and Madrid, further communicating the tone of common ground shared by fashion and film.
