Women’s Month

We’re halfway through our Great Girls program and I must say, my heart smiles at the sight of what happens at each one of our sessions. The interactions, the learning and the laughs… it’s been quite an experience for me.

We started with an interesting module on basic budgeting in the morning from on of the ladies on our team, I learnt a few things from that talk. And after lunch we heard the inspiring life story of a phenomenal lady by the name of Oelzah Arendse… not only was the story of her life and what she’s lived through amazing, but the countless stories she had to tell just had us laughing and wanting more! Our day was rounded up with hearing speeches from our girls, which had everyone learning a little bit more about each other, connecting and getting a bit emotional.

With the month of August coming to an end and bringing women’s month to a close, it’s sad to look around and see that not all have made it this far, but one thing that brings a smile to my face is the thought that, even with women’s month being over, the program goes on and the upliftment of young ladies continues. I can only hope those with us will make it to the end, and go on to be the great girls they are destined to be and “raise others with them as they rise”.

Through Shaded Eyes (TSE) is the brainchild of Tokelo Motsepe. A retail buyer and digital strategist with an addiction to blogging, this blog is a platform for my style, life and love for fashion to be shared. What started as an escape from the hustle and bustle of the world, has now become a place to let out my passion for fashion & writing, in-between time spent at work, traveling, or doing everything else life throws at me… it has become a form of expression and I hope it can inspire and encourage you to also share!
