Nothing like an girls road-trip/weekend away to end off the year, so three friends and I hit the road this past weekend to Arniston, a small fisherman’s town about 2 hours from Cape Town, Western Cape. With a playlist and bags in town, we were ready for some surf, sun and fun; though I can’t say the same for the town, as it was overcast for most of the time we were there. #sigh
The gloomy weather didn’t stop us, as it was still relatively warm, so naturally the beach was the first place we went. Where soft sand meets salt water has become my place of zen, this year saw the beach skyrocket to the top of my list as one of my fav-or-ite things – you have to sing that!
Always so peaceful and tranquil, no bad can happen at the beach, and collecting pretty little seashells is something I have to do when I’m out there… don’t ask me what I do with them, they just sit there… for now. I imagine one of these days, when I am sitting out on a beach somewhere, the idea of what I should do with all those shells sitting at home, and probably in my hands at that very moment will come to me.
Not always greener on the other side, it may still prove to be better.
Thinking about all that this year has brought me, I must admit, looking back my moving to Cape Town has been the best thing for me. Taking the time to reflect on hardships, joys, tears, lessons learnt, I truly feel blessed for it all and with that thought, I looked around at my friends (some old and some new) and smile.
