Power smoothies are one of the best ways to my day started. It’s been a while since I got my blender going, but like riding a bicycle, it’s something you don’t really forget. And no, I don’t mean just flipping the on switch, but the combinations of and amount of ingredients for some of my favourite smoothies.
Now something one may not know about me… I absolutely looove the combination that is peanut butter and banana!
The first time I tasted that scintillating coupling, was in the form of a milkshake in a News Café back in ’06, and I initially thought “eeuw”, but once it hit my lips, it was love at first taste and I was hooked. Now that combo with vanilla ice cream is really not a mix one can consume on a regular basis so over time I have tried and tested different versions and thought I’d share the one I loved most:
spoonful of peanut butter
cup of plain yoghurt
cup of raw oats
small handful of shaved almonds
a drizzle of honey
Throw all of that into a blender with a tray of ice cubes, pop that lid on and boom, you have yourself some yumminess in a cup. Hope that helps you stick to your goals of eating healthier, oh and it works great before a workout for me as well.
