A bit of Flare!

Fashion works in cycle, not only in seasonal cycles, but there are cycles in the styling as well; and like karma, things always come back around.

Over the last, say 10 years, we’ve seen the shape of pants get slimmer, going from straight leg, to skinny, to super-stretch skin-tight. So at some point, we need to reset, and start the process all over again, at this point any tighter and we’ll have to spray our bottoms on; hence the revival of flared & wide-leg bottoms.

As we know not all trends can suit us all, unless you’re blessed with the body of a Victoria Secret Angel, and if that’s the case then “more power to you honey”, but for the rest of us, we need to take our body shape and size into consideration when shopping the latest trends. Wide-leg pants may not be flattering for all body shapes, but I came across this pair of flared jeans, which I found could be nice alternative.

The difference between the two, is wide-leg’s are wide from the hip downwards & flared (aka bootleg) gradually go wider from the knee down. depending on the look you’re going for, I find the flared option to be more flattering and easier to wear for most as it’s figure hugging where it matters most.

I’m not quite sure I’m ready to let go of my skinny’s as yet, I mean, that super-stretchy stuff skinny’s are made of these days has me feeling like I can do just about anything in them, and I must say though these flared jeans feel comfy, the extra fabric around the ankle area will take some getting used to.
