AFI Fastrack | Thebe Magugu

Friday has me suffering visits from the ghosts of fashion weeks passed.. flashbacks of items I wish I could pick and pop into my wardrobe as I flipped through runway shots on the SDR Photo site.

One designer in the AFI Fastrack 2015 program that stood out for me was Thebe Magugu. His capsule collection had me captivated by the interesting combination of contrasts, right from the first look. At first glance one sees a feminine 50s inspired ensemble [one of my favorite fashion eras], but at second glance one will notice the masculine contrast that come through, with the A-line skirt kind of looking like a men’s suit jacket wrapped around the models waist, and it went on throughout, I really enjoyed.

The clean lines, details and styling just had me wishing I was not sitting in Brazil [at the time of the show], but rather in the front row watching those fabulous frocks in person… yes, I actually said that lol.

Thebe was named one of four finalists of the AFI Fastrack program, and with such an amazing capsule collection launch, I’m sure we will be seeing much more of this talented fellow. In the meantime, I will patiently wait for all that is the business of fashion that happens in the background to run its course, so some of those styles can be mine for keeps, cause that I what all this is about at the end of the day… shopping, no?
