This time last week, Cape Town was buzzing, with it being month end, fashion folk looked forward to enjoying the start of a fashion-filled weekend, so as the sun set (mind you, it’s gone before 6pm) the anticipation built for the fabulous fun that lay ahead in the night ahead. I started my evening, scoping what’s new on the art scene at First Thursdays and after fuelling up at Clarke’s, was off to Green Point stadium for Menswear Week, for the Maxhosa by Laduma showing.
I was saddened, by the almost two hour delay (show started well after 11pm) of the show I was so excited to see, but I’m a girl with a lot of patience & even though I wasn’t sitting frow, I enjoyed the show. How Laduma Ngxokolo brings his heritage into his Maxhosa range is what makes me love it so, and that combined with the way he is so selective with his range of colours, has created an unmistakable signature.. I mean, I feel I could walk down the streets of Milan next week and see someone wearing one of his cardi’s and be like “that right there, is a Maxhosa creation”!

Getting back to last week, we saw more of the knit shorts and leggings introduced at the AW showing with the addition of socks to tie it all together. The monochromatic knit wrap was my favourite look for the night and I have to add how the reversible offerings got me feeling all warm inside but I think that may have had more to do with the models showing us live on runway, how-to-reverse-the-knitwear *fans-self*.

I love knitwear, it isn’t heavy, so it doesn’t get you too hot and bothered and is perfect for layer; which is basically a way of life for me here in Cape Town with how temperamental the weather can be, so you can only imagine how much more nuts for knits I have become in the last two years lol.
