Harvest Season

I got enjoy a unique Stellenbosch experience and be apart of the annual harvest parade this weekend, with the Delheim Wines team. The parade marks the launch of the harvest season in Stellenbosch and is a day for the workers of the wine farms be recognised in a way and collectively have fun, and compete for the ‘best float’ title and cash prize. From there a small group of us went of a short walking tour where some of the towns humble beginnings, architecture and general history were shared with us.. it was interesting to hear how one of our official languages Afrikaans was influenced by other cultures too, like the Indonesians and not just the Dutch. And I loved how our guide had some funny stories to share, which had us all chuckling now and then throughout the walk. With the day getting warmer, a stop for some bubbly and snacks, while mingle within our group; and then it was off to the Delheim Wine Estate to join the Harvest Festival. We were greeted …

Summer of 2016 | #lookback

As most of you may have seen through my instagram feed, I haven’t quite gotten over my recent cross-country road trip. In all honesty, I almost feel like my body is on auto-pilot, with it going to work, even gym and getting into the new year; my mind on the other hand is suffering from constant flashbacks of my wonderful summer break. I shared the first major part of the road trip from Cape Town to Bloemfontein and on to my home town Tshwane with you guys HERE, and though its a bit late, I figured I’d share some of the rest of the trip. It got quite busy after arriving in Gauteng, with the days from then on being jam-packed with time with family. From there we went to Tholeni, then down to the coast of Durban (both in KZN), where a couple of days were enjoyed and then on to Grahamstown, before going through the beautiful Garden Route and on to Cape Town.
