Field of Sunshine | #traveltuesday

Spring in Cape Town usually has me down, with all my friends and family up North (I’m originally from Gauteng) enjoying the wonderful spring weather and me still being stuck in temperamental transitional period that seems to last forever down here. Come the weekend, my social media timelines are often flooded with ‘fun in the sun’ posts sharing people living their best lives, while I’m still drowning in knitwear and rain – though I’m grateful for that last one with the water shortages we’ve been experiencing lately. This passed Sunday was pretty warm out, so some friends and I decided to take a drive out to the Canola fields for some of our own fun in the sun, enjoying a taste of whats to come… whenever those warmer days decide to be more consistent lol. Cape Town’s spectacular flower season sends blankets of blooms across the nature reserves of the Western Cape from August to late September, not just sunshine yellow Canola fields in Botrivier, but all sorts of floral species all across the Western Cape. …
