Off 2 Work & Off 2 Play

My job requires me to spend most of my time in the office, whether it’s responding to my endless emails inbetween catching up on admin, sitting in a number of meetings and now and then I’ll go out visiting stores, retail is a fast pace industry that keeps me on my toes. On most days, I keep it simple with a easy dress and heels, and now and then I’ll wear jeans & heels, paired with a cute top; I’m not much of a morning person so I like to keep things simple. With summer still going strong, especially for us living in the Cape (sun still sets around 8pm), I like to do the most and take advantage of the warmer, sometimes hotter evenings, with a visit to the beach or dinner plans. On days like this, I like to wear easy and versatile pieces that I can easily swap out. Here I wear an shirt-style off-the-shoulder top (who doesn’t have a couple of these tops from this passed summer? They were everywhere!), with …

The Bomber

This versatile little item has been around for quite some time now. And I don’t if it’s just me, but I feel like with each year it just gets cooler and cooler. It’s so light and perfect for this time of year when it’s warming up, but still a bit chilling out. It’s more of a sporty type jacket, which I wear now and then but not too often, though I must say I’ve seen some bomber jackets in silk/satin type material that look more chic than cool, if you know what I mean; I might end up getting myself one of those to add to my little collection. One of my first bombers, is this leather number from The Lot a couple of years ago. I must admit I don’t wear it out as often cause of the Americana colours. With my love for the dark ink blue colour growing into somewhat of an obsession, a bomber in that shade made so much sense and I got this quilted baby from Mr Price. And …

Making Waves

Spring is in the air and with it comes a new wind of change. It’s been cold for far too long and it’s time to peel off the layers worn daily and reveal a new me, a me that is now revitalized and renewed and longing to soak up the sun, laze on beautiful beaches and enjoy hot summer nights out. I went out to enjoy the day by the beach, not quite in the way that I hoped though; as it wasn’t quite warm enough to be on the beach for me to enjoy the water, but was close enough. I feel the mix of blue hues in my stripes on stripes ensemble had me making my own waves as I went about my day. My accessory overload all from American Swiss, helped add a glisten to my look, which resembled that of the sun reflecting on water; and the little charms on my rings and bracelets adding some spring to my fingertips, with little sparkly butterflies and flowers. The silver accessories also made …

The Fray

I remember back when I was a kid and my pants would become too short, as I grew taller and my mother would undo the hem to give them some length.. fast forward to the present, where what my mom used to do is trending and I’m paying good money to own a piece of that nostalgia. I came across this new wider shaped leg with a frayed hem while shopping awhile ago. I must admit though those were the things that stood out and got me to buy them, they were also the reason for my hesitation to wear them. I mean, have you ever bought something you loved, but just wasn’t sure how to wear it? That happens to me now and then and that’s when I take to the internet to get inspiration from other fab fashionista’s. Skinnies still make up a large portion of my denim collection and I won’t stop wearing them anytime soon and can also be found with the frayed hem, but I enjoy trying new shapes and …

Strike the right Cord

It’s all about texture this winter, basically mixing and matching items that have different and interesting feels to them. I’m really feeling this one, cause it’s nice to be all cozy and warm when it’s cold out, but having what you’re wearing FEEL cozy too, is next level comfort! As you know, the easiest [and my most loved] way for me to add a bit of texture to one of my looks, is pulling on some cuddley knitwear, but I recently bumped into a blast from the past, in one of my current fave winter colours (olive green), and I’m sure you will all remember this one from back in the day. Corduroy pants, I mean, when last? They were softer than I remember and felt the soft feel and rich colour would be nice to add to my closet. What do you think? Will be wearing them this winter?
