Summer of 2016 | #lookback

As most of you may have seen through my instagram feed, I haven’t quite gotten over my recent cross-country road trip. In all honesty, I almost feel like my body is on auto-pilot, with it going to work, even gym and getting into the new year; my mind on the other hand is suffering from constant flashbacks of my wonderful summer break. I shared the first major part of the road trip from Cape Town to Bloemfontein and on to my home town Tshwane with you guys HERE, and though its a bit late, I figured I’d share some of the rest of the trip. It got quite busy after arriving in Gauteng, with the days from then on being jam-packed with time with family. From there we went to Tholeni, then down to the coast of Durban (both in KZN), where a couple of days were enjoyed and then on to Grahamstown, before going through the beautiful Garden Route and on to Cape Town. Time was enjoyed eating, talking up a storm in a bid to …

My First Cross-Country Road Trip

I’m one that has always been excited by the thought of taking to the open road and eagerly looking forward to, not only the destination, but the many interesting places that are along the way. I’ve always wanted to do a cross-country road trip, cause I believe there is so much to see in this beautiful country I am blessed to call my home. Seeing more of South Africa and Africa is on my list of resolutions for 2016 and I was fortunate enough to visit Ghana [for Ghana Fashion & Design Week read more here] earlier this year, which marked the first of my ventures into Africa. This road trip is the perfect way to end the year man.. good music, lost a of snacks, plenty of stops to explore the small towns and take pictures for days lol. Starting early in the morning, we left a gloomy Cape Town (where I live) behind, heading for Beaufort West which is the largest town in the Great Karoo region, also known as the “Capital of …

10 Thing I Love About You

I recently got back from a week in Colombia and I had the best time ever, simply because I got the chance to fully immerse myself in the culture of that country, and experience a lot of what they are about. Everyone I have come into contact with that’s either seen the photos I’ve shared on Facebook, Instagram & Twitter, or the daily video-clips I shared through Snapchat, all pretty much asked me the same two questions… first being ‘why Colombia?’ which I mostly answered with ‘why not???’ lol and the following being ‘how was it?’, which usually opened the floodgates to a soliloquy of my highlights from the last number of days, which I believe would be boring to type out. I explored the beautiful city of Medellin (the second largest in Colombia) and I thought a top 10 list would be more fun, inspired by the 90’s film 10 Things I Hate About You, here is my own version: 10 Things I Love About You, Colombia.. 1. Oh, so thoughtful.. The steps that …

Chilling Churchhaven

This past weekend saw me taking a mini-roadtrip with some friends out to Churchhaven on the West Coast. It was my first time and I had heard it was by a big lagoon, with wonderfully warm water, so I was pretty excited and eager for the experience. We woke up bright and early, so that we could enjoy a full day at the beach. And when we got there, the first thing I realised was the size of this lagoon, being much bigger than I imagined; and though it was more shallow than I thought it would be, it’s beauty took my breath away… the pictures don’t do it justice. Above images by Daniel Manners // insta: @dandybeard There was lots of swimming, eating, ball tossing, picture snapping, drinking, braaing, banana-peel playing and more eating and drinking. We even had time for a nap, and by late afternoon it was high tide and the water was at a nice depth [those still as warm as ever] and we enjoyed a good swim before calling it …
